Giving Back

As sisters of Mu Sigma Upsilon our mission has always been to help as many organizations as possible, but we also realize the need to focus our efforts in order to make a stronger impact on the community at large. Every five years, the National Governing Council Executive Board selects a national philanthropy as the beneficiary for its five-year term. Through this process, we are able to dedicate ourselves as a national organization to aiding a single charity organization for five years at a time and continue to assist many more organizations in the future.

Mu Sigma Upsilon's National Philanthropy for the 2022-2026 term is the NAACP.

NAACP is a non-profit movement dedicated to ensuring that all individuals have equal rights and there is no hatred or racial discrimination in society. With more than 2,200 units across the nation and more than 2 million activists they are the home for civil rights and social justice. Continuing the legacy of W.E.B. Dubois, Ida B. Wells, Thurgood Marshall, and many other giants of civil rights.

NAACP MISSION

Together with more than 2 million activists across the country we work to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

To make our vision a reality, we will:

  • Ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of all citizens

  • Achieve equality of rights and eliminate race prejudice among the citizens of the United States

  • Remove all barriers of racial discrimination through democratic processes

  • Seek enactment and enforcement of federal, state, and local laws securing civil rights

  • Inform the public of the adverse effects of racial discrimination and to seek its elimination

  • Educate everyone on their constitutional rights and take all lawful action to secure the exercise of those rights, and to take any other lawful action in furtherance of these objectives, consistent with the NAACP's Articles of Incorporation and the NAACP Constitution
